In my ongoing effort to track down and eliminate every bug I can find, I discovered a big one—and this one bothered me greatly.

The “Your Birthdate” field wasn’t always saving correctly when someone entered their birthdate.

That has now been fixed.

I’ve also added and improved quite a few things recently. You may have already noticed some of them!

You can now log in directly at:

https://social.taboo.media

Be sure to set your web-login password first! Otherwise, well… you won’t be able to log in.

To set it:

1. Click your name in the upper-right corner.

2. Select Profile Edit.

3. Click the big blue Set Web Password button.

4. When logging in, use the username displayed in the upper-right corner and the password you created.

Once that’s done, you can log in from anywhere.

Your web password is separate from the HUD and will not change your normal HUD experience. You still won’t need a username or password when using the HUD.

I will not allow accounts to be created through the website.

The only way to create a Taboo! Social account is through the in-world HUD. This helps keep the community connected to actual Second Life residents and cuts down on fake and spam accounts.

The annoying white-screen issue that could freeze the HUD and prevent you from logging in has been fixed.

If you wear your current HUD and it is outdated, the newest version should automatically be delivered to you.

Use the new one!

No more frozen white screen keeping you from logging in.

You may have already seen Notices when you first log in.

These can include important announcements, updates, advertisements, and other information we want residents to see.

The in-world notification system is now solid!

You can decide which notifications you want to receive in Second Life:

1. Click your name in the upper-right corner.

2. Select In-World Notifications.

3. Turn individual notification types on or off.

You’re in control of what gets sent to you.

Not sure what everything does—or just want to see what’s available?

You can now take guided tours of the site’s features.

Click your name in the upper-right corner and select Site Tour. You can choose which features you want to explore and then follow a brief walkthrough of each one.

I wrote a new event importer that brings upcoming events from Second Life’s official website directly into the Taboo! Social Events section.

New and updated listings are checked regularly, giving you an easy way to find something happening today or over the next few days.

Imported events can include:

• Event times and durations

• Locations and teleport links

• Host information

• Descriptions

• Categories

• Event images

You can also post your own events directly on Taboo! Social!

There’s always more being worked on behind the scenes. If you find a bug, something doesn’t behave correctly, or you have an idea that would make Taboo! Social better, let me know.
